Purpose and Responsibilities

The Board shall function as a policy-making group which shall insure compliance with the Indigent Health Care Plan and all other provisions of the lease.

The Board shall also perform all of the responsibilities authorized and directed by the Laws of Florida, as amended, and all other lawful matters within the scope of the Board’s authority and responsibilities.

Membership

The Lake Shore Hospital Authority shall be comprised of seven (7) Board Members who shall be residents of Columbia County and who shall be appointed by the Governor of the State. One member shall be a physician engaged in practice of medicine at Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center Hospital. Each term of office shall be four (4) years. A vacancy occurring during a term shall be filled only for the balance of the term.

Each member shall keep himself/herself informed at all times regarding Lake Shore Hospital Authority. The Board shall be responsible for keeping up to date with the Laws of Florida relating to the Board Members and shall recommend to the legislature of the State Florida such changes, additions, or deletions in the law which, as a result of the experience of the Board Members, might improve the functioning of the Board.
